Sales Versus Marketing

Sales and marketing are closely related but distinct functions. Marketing involves creating awareness and interest in a product or service through strategies like advertising and branding. It focuses on attracting and educating potential customers.

Sales, on the other hand, is the direct interaction with customers to convert interest into transactions. It involves personal selling, negotiations, and closing deals. While marketing builds the foundation for customer acquisition, sales activities are more immediate and involve direct customer engagement to achieve conversions.

In essence, marketing sets the stage, and sales takes center stage in the process of turning prospects into customers.
