Sustainability Policy

At Essey Marketing, sustainability is not a box we check—it’s a guiding principle embedded in every aspect of our business. As a full-service digital marketing agency committed to making a meaningful difference, we believe the private sector plays a critical role in shaping a better, more equitable world. Our sustainability commitment stems from a foundational belief in the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, and Profit. We view these three responsibilities not as trade-offs, but as interconnected priorities that must be served in tandem to create long-term value for our clients, our communities, and our planet.

A Business Philosophy Rooted in Responsibility

Our business decisions are informed by more than just performance metrics. We ask ourselves: Does this action uplift people? Does it minimize harm to the planet? Does it support healthy, ethical growth? By consistently evaluating our operations and partnerships through this lens, we ensure that success at Essey Marketing is measured not only by profitability but by the positive impact we generate.

We are deeply committed to responsible growth. This means selecting clients and projects that align with our values, fostering long-term partnerships with mission-driven organizations, and leveraging our resources to support sustainability-focused initiatives.

8% Revenue Commitment to Nonprofits

We proudly allocate 8% of our gross revenue to nonprofit organizations each year. While our giving portfolio includes a range of causes, we prioritize funding for environmental conservation, climate action, and sustainability education. Our goal is to support organizations that work to protect ecosystems, combat climate change, preserve biodiversity, and advocate for environmental justice.

This commitment is both financial and operational. We often provide pro bono or discounted marketing services to environmentally focused nonprofits to help amplify their missions, build public awareness, and drive donor engagement.

Supporting the Future of Conservation

In 2024, we introduced the Essey Marketing Environmental Conservation Scholarship, a one-time annual award offered to students pursuing degrees in environmental science, wildlife conservation, sustainability, ecology, or related disciplines. With only 3% of philanthropic giving in the U.S. currently directed toward environmental causes, we believe it is essential to invest in the next generation of conservation leaders.

The scholarship is just one piece of a broader effort to promote sustainability-focused education, leadership, and innovation. By supporting individuals who are passionate about protecting the planet, we aim to catalyze long-term change that extends well beyond our own business.

Hands-On Environmental Initiatives

We are not content with passive giving. Our team actively participates in environmental restoration efforts, including our signature community project: 10 Parks, 10 Days. This initiative mobilizes local volunteers, businesses, and residents to clean and restore 10 Pittsburgh-area parks over 10 consecutive days. It’s more than a park cleanup—it’s a movement that brings people together in service of community well-being, environmental stewardship, and civic pride.

We are also proud participants in Pennsylvania’s Adopt-a-Roadway program, regularly maintaining stretches of public roadway to prevent litter pollution and protect local ecosystems. These hands-on efforts reflect our belief that sustainability starts with action—and that small, consistent efforts can produce significant impact over time.

The Business Case for Sustainability

We agree with Ben Cohen’s assertion that “the balance of power on the planet today lies in the hands of business.” Corporations now rival governments in both influence and resources. At Essey Marketing, we see this not as a risk—but as a responsibility.

We believe that ethical business is also effective business. Clients, consumers, and employees are increasingly drawn to organizations that demonstrate authenticity, transparency, and a commitment to the greater good. Sustainability is not only the right thing to do—it is also a powerful driver of trust, loyalty, and long-term success.

Our Call to Collaboration

True sustainability requires collaboration. No one business can solve the planet’s most pressing challenges alone—but together, we can accelerate progress. We invite fellow businesses, nonprofit partners, and local communities to work with us in advancing environmental sustainability and social good.

Whether it’s through joint campaigns, collaborative cleanups, scholarship partnerships, or community engagement initiatives, we are committed to co-creating a future where business success and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

Measuring What Matters

At Essey Marketing, we are redefining what success looks like. We do not measure our impact solely by leads generated, campaigns launched, or profit margins achieved. We also measure:

  • Trees planted
  • Parks cleaned
  • Dollars donated
  • Students supported
  • Nonprofits amplified

This is the standard we hold ourselves to. And it’s the one we will continue to pursue with rigor and resolve.
